How often is the system maintained?
Maintenance is scheduled every 6 months. Our team visits to inspect the panels, inverter, battery (if installed) and metering, runs diagnostics on the remote monitoring data, and resolves anything flagged before it becomes a problem.
Are there extra costs for maintenance?
No. Routine maintenance is fully included in your monthly subscription. There are no surprise call-out fees, no parts charges for standard wear, and no additional service costs for the duration of your subscription.
Will I still be connected to the national grid?
Yes. Your property stays connected to the national grid as a backup and to allow surplus solar energy to be exported. Your Aurora system handles your day-to-day power. The grid is a safety net, not your main source.
What happens if I move houses or premises?
The installed system remains with the property it was commissioned on. We install a new system at your new property under a fresh agreement. Your existing subscription terms carry over so you do not lose your Early Bird rates or priority status.
Can the system power my whole house without interruption?
Yes, when paired with battery storage. The system is sized during the survey to handle your daily load with the solar array during daylight hours, and the battery covers nighttime and grid outage continuity. Without a battery, daytime power is uninterrupted; nighttime usage draws from the grid.
Can I run heavy appliances like the stove or washing machine?
Yes. The system is sized to your specific load profile, including high-draw appliances like electric stoves, washing machines, geysers and air conditioning. We assess your usage during the site survey and design the inverter capacity to match.
When are you launching?
We plan to launch 90 days from 1 June 2026. Early Bird subscribers will be installed in priority tier order starting from launch.
How long until my system gets installed?
Installation order follows the priority tier ranking. 1st tier subscribers (Advanced and Executive) are installed first when we launch. 2nd tier (Intermediate and Senior) follow, then 3rd tier (Starter and Junior). Your individual install timeline depends on the tier you choose and your position within that tier.
Is my payment secure?
Yes. We work with an independent third-party monitor who tracks, records and reports all transactions on the Early Bird programme. Payment processing is handled through Porsa, a regulated payment infrastructure provider.
How can I pay?
Mobile money is supported now. Bank card payments are coming soon. The checkout page will show you the available options at the moment of payment.
What are units?
Units are prepaid energy credits. Each unit equals 1 kWh. They load onto your smart meter when your system goes live and deduct as you consume. Think of it like airtime for electricity. Once they run out, you continue on your monthly rate.
What does the validity period mean?
It is the window within which your prepaid units must be used. Starter: 60 days. Intermediate: 90. Advanced: 120. Commercial ranges from 90 to 180 days. Unused units expire after the window closes.
How does pricing work?
Aurora uses a hybrid tariff. Daytime solar is $0.08/kWh. Nighttime battery is $0.12/kWh. For a household using about 18 kWh per day, the blended rate is roughly $0.096/kWh, which works out to approximately $52/month. Lower usage homes land closer to $46, higher closer to $58. Your exact rate is confirmed during the site survey.
Can I upgrade my package later?
Yes. You can upgrade before installation. The price difference is applied to your account. Downgrades are not available once purchased.
